LOWCOUNTRY AUTISM FOUNDATION AUTISM IDENTIFICATION

  • Lowcountry Autism Foundation Autism Identification (LAF AID) is a FREE program, in partnership with Beaufort County law enforcement agencies, where first responders are equipped with training on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and families will have access to a personalized ID to help identify their child/adult in the community if they were to get lost. Don’t worry- it is discreet and all the people who need to know will recognize the ID and know to call 911.

  • If your child is an elopement risk and were to wander, the community and first responders will be able to identify the ID and help you much more quickly!

We took a poll of some of our registered LAF Families. Of the 77 families who participated in the poll, 94.8% said “if the opportunity presented itself, they would be comfortable with their child/adult wearing a bracelet or shoelace tag to indicate they have autism to help first responders identify their child and how to handle the situation”.

  • LAF AID registration will take place at both scheduled in person events and online. Once the participants form is complete they will receive their LAF AID Kit.

*Your information is protected and will only be shared with LAF and first responders.

THE LAF AID KIT
